The Mini, who doesn’t love it? Perhaps the most iconic car ever produced. Drive it, and you’re sold!
The classic Minis were produced until the year 2000. From carburettor to injection, and from extremely narrow to ‘Sportspack’ wide. The Limited Edition models are much sought after. The Kensington is such a limited edition, with a wonderfully large folding roof and beautiful leather upholstery.
It is obvious; this Mini is exactly the way you like it! Original and untouched. Delivered in the Netherlands, only 64,892 km and in good condition.
The engine has also had the necessary attention, you notice that while driving and you can see that if you look closely at it. For example, we recently had the entire head overhauled, a costly job. Not only has the head been flattened and the gasket has been renewed, we have also had the valves grinded in and, of course, they have also been re-adjusted. In addition, major maintenance has been carried out and the dynamo and battery have been renewed. Two new front tires and the Mini is safe again. The 1275cc starts immediately after switching on the starter motor and runs great. I have now driven quite a few kilometers with it, and I really like it!
The leather-upholstered seats, complete with contrasting trim, sit perfectly. Of course the seats are still in very good condition considering the mileage, which is guaranteed by the present NAP report and of course the maintenance booklet.
The light and direct steering is the result of the low weight and low center of gravity. The short wheelbase and the wheels placed on the extreme corners make it an agile car, the Mini is logically often compared to a kart.
And just look at that interior… How simple and beautiful can it be! A beautiful burr walnut dashboard, beige leather upholstery, the sun on your head… wonderful!
After major maintenance, the Mini is equipped with a new MOT, which it passed without any comments. Although there is some rust on the outside on, for example, A-panels and on the paravane, the underside is neat and hard. Photos of the underside are of course available.
The folding roof is original for the Kensington and works perfectly. It is electrically operated by means of a switch on the roof.
Are there no drawbacks, you ask? Well, actually there are only two things to mention; First the already adressed rust on some outer panels. This is typically for classic Mini’s, but it has to be mentioned. Second the lack of some parts of the headliner, as it was somewhat discolored. We have already ordered a new fabric, this will be included in the price.
Classic Minis are getting rarer and more expensive. There are few classics where you get more ‘value for money’ than with a Mini; top driving pleasure!
