Just think about it; ultimate land Rover styled. The same delicious TD5 diesel as in the Defender, of course with TD5 rumble. A very spacious interior. Comfortable seats. A towing capacity of no less than 3500 kg. The Discovery often stole the show in various films and documentaries. The Camel Trophy, not to be forgotten. Strange really, that the Defender has always been in the foreground. Because let’s be honest: wet feet, a bad sitting position, noise up to and including. A tailgate that you can barely get a folding bike through. No form of comfort, but maximum image, that is the Defender. The Discovery offers the best of Land Rover at the turn of the century, in every way.
That appreciation, this Discovery enjoyed it. Driven for years by our technical partner in the Jaguar area. They have driven no less than 200,000 kilometers with the ‘Disco’. Up and down to England and far into Germany, just to name a few. Believe me, that does a car good. Drive enough kilometers and do your maintenance, then you will have a wonderful car.
Of course, it is a particularly high mileage, everyone understands that. This mileage shows confidence in the car, and that’s why I now drive it every day. Because take a good look at the Discovery; the original seats, never reupholstered and still in great condition. the entire interior seems to have only done 100,000km, unbelievable. Truly all the necessary maintenance has been carried out at the right time. Not a turn was missed. Not surprising, of course, if you’ve made your job of English classics.
When I was asked if I wanted to take over the Discovery, I didn’t hesitate for a moment. After all, I knew it’s history well. After arrival, some minor issues were addressed immediately.
For example, the air conditioning has been repaired and serviced. In the interior, only some wear on the steering wheel was visible, so it was exchanged for another original one.
Of course a new MOT was performed. Comments on the MOT? None. Zero. Nothing about possible rust on the chassis, nothing about worn tires or oil leakage. Also important, the TD5 also consumes virtually no oil. This made the Discovery ready for the future again!
Obviously, the kilometers traveled have also left some traces. You will find some scratches and a single dent around the Disco. The door lock at the front right sometimes falters. Furthermore, the black wheel arch edges are somewhat discolored and the front bumper is torn in two places. Fiercely? No, indeed not. Take a look at the average offers and compare it with this Discovery.
Then the equipment of the Discovery, because it is a ‘Gant’. That means a beautiful black leather interior, lovely Hurricane rims, heated seats, cruise control, climate control, electrically operated seats and so on. Everything works as it should, everything has been thought of. Nice, isn’t it, after all these years of service?
Why for sale, you may ask. Easy; there are four Land Rovers waiting here, I really have to start somewhere. And here applies; the best leave first!
Fear and doubt dominate the picture of English classics. Facebook is the domain where this is maintained, often from gray attic rooms, the Agila safely in front of the door. It’s a shame, because you’ll miss a lot. Will this TD5 be my daily car for a long time to come? I think it would be nice to drive it to 600,000 km.
