The XJS, perhaps Jaguar’s most discussed design. Now becoming rare, let alone in this condition.

Everyone is on the lookout for young- and classic cars with low mileage. Not surprising, there’s something almost magical about it. Take a close look at the details of this XJS, and you’ll see why: flawless bodywork, wood veneers that look brand new, and an engine bay that appears as though it was just finished on the production line. Ultimate! There are even companies specializing in this; Switzerland, the USA, Japan – everywhere, people are scouring for these needles in a haystack. This is a car for true enthusiasts, one you buy with your heart, not your head! A truly special enthusiast’s car, with a remarkable mileage of 24,646 miles. That’s just 39,400 kilometers after 31 years. Enough miles to keep the car in good condition, yet few enough to achieve such an ultra-low reading after over three decades.

Love it or hate it, that’s how it goes with the XJS, or with the Jaguar brand in general. And that’s a good thing, because they’re becoming rare, and a wider audience driving up the price only makes sense, right? They are rare, especially in this condition. Where do you find such a car; untouched, original, from the first owner, and most importantly, with that special odometer reading? Does it exist? Absolutely, the Carfax report details the full history. Every visit to the Jaguar dealer is listed. A low mileage is one thing, but the documentation behind it is just as important. The condition of this unique Jaguar really speaks for itself. Naturally, it features a ‘solid’ firewall, rigid body panels, and a sturdy underbody. The interior is untouched, it even still smells ‘new.’ That woodwork? In pristine condition. The convertible top is just as beautifully beige as it was in 1993. A true collector’s item, there’s no doubt about that.

We clearly have Mr. Lawson from Colorado to thank for this XJS. Lawson had cars – many cars. ‘In the past,’ I could hardly imagine buying a car and then barely using it. But now I know; it happens faster than you think. We ourselves bought a Morgan with only 9,000 kilometers on the clock, even though it was 12 years old, and its full history was known. As the second owner of such a classic, you truly have something special in your hands, that’s for sure.

Now, enough about the history of this Jaguar. Once the aforementioned details are in place, it’s time to look at the cosmetic condition of a classic – and of course, this is where the greatest joy lies when it comes to these kinds of exceptional cars. Because, how beautiful is the XJS! The interior just exudes the ’80s – stunning. The ‘80s, in a very luxurious uniform, with wood and beige hues everywhere. Walnut wood, a leather-wrapped steering wheel… dazzling chrome, a delightful ‘period-correct’ radio with a CD player – magnificent!

No faults, no quirks. The beautiful and comfortable seats are electrically adjustable, as are the mirrors. Everything works as it should. There are no defects, no issues, and no downsides. This is what truly makes a car!

Now, the exterior. No scratches, no damage. “Top condition” is an understatement. Doesn’t that just make you smile? Look at that bodywork – still completely original. The beautiful hand-painted coachlines in two colors, matching the interior. Headlights in pristine condition, a rarity for any XJS. I could endlessly enjoy the condition and state of this XJS alone. It’s no wonder I immediately decided to purchase this exceptional Jaguar. Ready to refine the details, perform maintenance, and prepare the XJS for the next true enthusiast.

You might wonder what you could possibly add to such a classic. Trust me, before you can confidently hit the road with it, there’s still much to be done, and that’s exactly where I get the most joy – preparing it to perfection for the new owner. At most car dealerships, it ends with RDW approval, an MOT, and a Dutch license plate, but for me, that’s just the beginning. The RDW approved the XJS after adjusting the low beam and adding two reflectors. Worn-out shock absorbers? No problem for the MOT. A slightly sticking brake caliper? No issue for the Dutch roads. However, a Jaguar driver doesn’t settle for the bare minimum. He or she expects quality. Proper suspension and damping, no vibrations, no deviations in handling. It’s a joy to deliver classics under those conditions, with the associated costs and effort being mere details. After the MOT approval, we replaced no less than six gas struts with new, adjustable dampers. The braking system was overhauled. A major service was carried out. The paintwork was polished three times. Tiny dents were removed. Beautiful work!

Now, I’ve seen quite a few Jaguars and Daimlers pass through here. Every so often, you come across a car that makes you think, “I want that one!” This Jaguar is one of those. No sales talk, mind you – a classic should sell itself. But I’m sold, for sure!

Naturally, the full documentation is available with the Jaguar. Service book, Carfax, owner’s manual, NAP report, complete key set, including remote – nothing is missing.

To make the experience of a Jaguar in almost-new condition complete, I am delivering this specific XJS with a warranty: six months or up to 5,000 km.

There’s much more to say about this Jaguar, but you’ll only truly get the picture once you see and drive the car yourself. You’re most welcome in Uden, on appointment, coffee is ready!
