XJC. The most special member of the XJ series, a real collector’s item.
There are many beautiful and special XJs, but the Jaguar Sovereign Coupe takes the cake. The same wheelbase as the Series II Saloon of the time, but with only two doors and a so-called ‘pillarless’ frame. difficult to find, especially in this condition.
Just look at the beautiful roofline, with the newly covered vinyl. The beautiful Dark Blue paintwork, the interior in blue leather, all of this looks great on the coupe.
Proper maintenance makes or breaks the ultimate classic car experience. For this reason, extensive maintenance has recently been carried out on this Coupe. All technical matters that required attention were addressed by the specialist. Naturally, the MOT has been renewed. All this makes it easy to get in and drive with this Coupe. That’s what they were made for; to enjoy!
Now that we’re talking about enjoyment… You want to drive a vintage car like this! There are many things that make enjoying this Jaguar XJC even easier. For example, a more recent engine was installed in the past, from a Series 3 XJ. So no carburetors, but a nice and well-functioning injection. A LPG gas installation has also been installed, so fuel costs remain within limits.
The handling is great and absolutely cannot be compared to the majority of Jaguars offered from that time. Almost all parts have been renewed or overhauled in the past, including shock absorbers and springs. You notice this in everything. It is a quiet Grand Tourer, this Jaguar Coupe. Extremely comfortable suspension, but not swaying. Sufficient power to drive wonderfully low revs.
The low production number, together with the fact that many have been lost over the years, makes the value of the Jaguar Coupe interesting. This has been steadily increasing for years. This keeps the hobby affordable, right?
The paintwork of the Coupe is in very good condition and the quality of the paintwork is high, something you don’t often see these days. The leather upholstery is really in good condition.
The carpet is original and in very good condition. Door seals feel good and show no cracks or breaks. The headliner was of course also renewed during the comprehensive restoration years ago.
As mentioned, major maintenance has been carried out by specialists from our network and the Jaguar has been completely checked. Nothing was left to chance to guarantee a wonderful driver’s car. This Coupe will not wait long for a new enthusiast as owner or owner. Nice to know; the current owner has owned the XJC for ten years!
Are there also disadvantages, you rightly ask? Of course, a car of this age also has its downsides. Although the past restoration is of high quality, you will still find some rust on the underside here and there. Quite expectable when talking about a Jaguar from that era, we all know that. Still, it’s important for me to mention. Photos are of course available, so you will not be faced with any surprises.
There is still a lot to say about this unique Jaguar, but you will of course only get a good idea when you view and drive the car. you are very welcome in Oirschot, the coffee is ready.
