Indeed, as it should be. That’s how this XJ drives. Drive over a bad road and the Jaguar continues to feel solid and stable, something that sometimes wants to be different when you look at the average offer. Unstable handling, worn steering wheel, sagging headliner, damaged driver’s seat… This XJ is so different. Not surprising if you know the story of this sporty XJ.
I recently bought this XJ Sport from a real enthusiast, after I took over his Daimler last year. Delivered new in Belgium to the first first owner. He opted for a beautiful composition of the Sport package; Ivory leather, Topaz Metallic, the Harman Kardon sound system and the special 17 inch Celtic alloys. These Celtic wheels are still equipped with the right tires; Pirelli P-Zero’s with good tread. The rims are also in a very neat condition, no strange damage or corrosion present.
Typical for the Sport are the wonderfully comfortable sports seats with perforated leather. Just enough support around your waist and at your shoulder blades, that makes this XJ even more of a driver’s car!
Also typical for this version are the matt black window frames. Usually this black coating comes off, but not with this example. Nice to see are the original coachlines; the hand-applied lines on both sides. If a part has already been completely repainted, then this line has been interrupted or partially repainted. With this XJ, the lines look completely original!
As said, I took over this XJ from a well-known customer. Given the maintenance that was still to be carried out at the time, he thought that the Sport would be in the right place here. We started immediately after arrival; the complete distribution modification was carried out, together with major maintenance and modifications to the cooling system.
Was there something wrong with it, you ask? No, certainly not, everything worked fine. But maintenance is done before something breaks, which ensures less headaches and more driving pleasure! The XJ Sport is therefore completely ready for the next owner.
A few words about the state of the bodywork and chassis; both are in very good condition. There is no rust visible on the front fenders, sills look neat. Under the rear window, the sheet metal looks original and unaffected. The underside of the XJ is neat, especially considering the now respectable age of 25 years. The headlining has already been renovated, everything works as it should, there are no defects. The airconditioning system has also been serviced.
Are there no downsides, you ask? In the extreme corner of the left side screen you can see some irregular paintwork, caused by rust. It’s about a spot of a square centimeter, but worth mentioning for me.
The XJ is delivered with a brand new MOT. The key set consists of two keys with two remote controls.
The complete service folder is included with the car, together with all other documents.
There is still a lot to say about this Jaguar, but of course you only get a good picture when you look at the car and drive it. You are very welcome in Oirschot, the coffee is ready.
