XJ-SC, the XJS in Targa trim, manual transmission. Special, rare.
A wonderful Jaguar. To see, to drive. This XJS is different. the Targa roof with its two removable parts makes it a special experience. The canvas roof at the rear can easily be folded down for an even more convertible experience on warmer days. The five-speed manual transmission adds the necessary action; the ideal recipe for sporty enjoyment in a classic Jaguar! The previous, second owner had enjoyed this special XJ-SC for almost 10 years, after which the Targa was exchanged with us for a beautiful Jaguar XJ6.
The Targa was only in production for two years, so production numbers are very low. A handful were delivered in the Netherlands, including this copy. The second owner bought the Jaguar almost 10 years ago from RAC, a well-known address when it comes to classic but also new Jaguars. The XJ-SC was meticulously maintained in subsequent years, and of course many invoices are available. Some highlights from the maintenance history; Naturally, a major maintenance service was carried out immediately after arrival. The ignition unit was also renewed in 2024. 2019 was the year in which the entire exhaust system was replaced by a beautiful stainless steel system, supplied by a specialized company in the UK. In 2018 and further in the past, all six shock absorbers have already been replaced. The brakes have also been overhauled, both front and rear.
The XJSC steers wonderfully with he beautiful, original steering wheel in your hands. No vibrations, no rattles. The clutch engages well, the manual gearbox shifts smoothly. Just a nice and well-steering XJS that can provide lots of fun for years to come!
A quick word about that exhaust system; that is a true addition to the sporty character of this Jaguar. It sounds discreet in the low speed range, but sporty and full in the higher speed range. This, together with the manual gearbox, the sporty seating position and the open-top driving, makes the Targa a lot of fun!
And how wonderfully attractive this particular example is for the eyes. The Claret metallic paint is in very good condition, the XJS was completely repainted in the distant past. The seats are in good condition, no damage is visible. Clear headlight glass, special. Both the gear lever and the gear lever cover are even still in neat condition, something you don’t often see. We certainly owe the good condition the XJ-SC is in today to the previous owner, who stored his Targa indoors all those years. The low mileage also works in favor of this unique Jaguar. This mileage is fully substantiated by the existing Dutch NAP report.
Body and bottom are in particularly good condition. No serious rust has been observed, even at critical points.
Are there any disadvantages to this desirable Jaguar, you wonder? Little to none, if you ask me. Still, I like to mention everything I can think of. In this case it is limited to a non-functioning air conditioning. Although the air conditioning compressor has already been exchanged for a used one in 2021, it appears not to work. To achieve reliable and well-functioning air conditioning, we recommend modernizing and partially renewing this system if desired. Naturally, we can take care of this at an additional cost.
As indicated, the Jaguar will be delivered with a major maintenance service and a fresh MOT, completely ready for the new enthusiast. The service map is with the Jaguar. Key set is complete.
By the way, the loyal follower will have noticed it; the photos were not taken at the fixed location, the weather conditions were not suitable. The beautiful location of Bureau In, architect in Uden, is perfect for this.
There is still a lot to say about this Jaguar, but you will of course only get a good impression when you view and drive the car. you are very welcome in Uden, the coffee is ready.
