In 2017 I saw this Super V8 for the first time. In excellent condition, because completely technically and optically addressed. Exco Auto’s in Veldhoven, one of the Netherlands’ most prominent technical specialists, prepared the Daimler for the new owner at the time. Nothing was left to chance. Of course the well-known distribution modification was carried out, but the cooling system was also completely renewed, parts of the wheel suspension were replaced, the automatic gearbox was serviced and even both fuel pumps were renewed. The headlining was also not skipped during this renovation. All in all, quite an operation. Both Exco cars and myself were convinced of the quality of the Daimler and at the beginning of 2018 it was offered by me, including a half-year warranty.
New and delivered with Belgian registration by Jaguar De Koning Arnhem, July 18, 1999. Sapphire Blue Metallic, Long Wheel Base. And; Super V8! The pinnacle of the X308 model. In the right color; Sapphire Blue Metallic. With the right interior, Cashmere leather with a contrasting trim.
So far, so good. We are now three loving owners. Fortunately, these enthusiasts managed to guarantee the quality because again nothing was left to chance. All maintenance was also carried out by specialists during the successive years 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022. For example, the steel sheet metal under the rear window was recently tackled, there were some small blisters visible. Photos of this are available. recently, February 2022, we performed a big maintenance service.
8.000km back, four new Michelin Pilot Sport N1 are fitted.
Perhaps unnecessary to mention, but the above is completely in contrast to the majority of the offer online; deferred maintenance seems to be the norm. Too bad, because these kinds of classics are absolutely worth maintaining!
At the time, a Jaguar or Daimler could be ordered with a Long Wheel Base body. The Daimler was not simply extended by ‘sticking some space in between’, but the entire body was tackled. Compared to the Short Wheel Base, the roofline deviates considerably, giving you some extra headroom. The longer wheelbase also results in no less than 10 centimeters of extra legroom. If you still have the idea that you are a bit cramped on your comfortable back seat, then you just put the front seat forward. cumbersome? Nope, you just operate it from the back seat.
The exterior is in very good condition. The rare, 17 inch wheels look great. The paintwork was fully polished a few years ago, the Sapphire Blue metallic paint radiates towards you.
Obviously no rust is visible. The Daimler is also in very good condition on the underside; Recently a Jaguar dealer praised this Daimler for its condition and appearance during a visit.
You will of course find a lot of luxury in the Daimler for its time. For example, it is equipped with a light sensor, a rain sensor, an electrically operated and tiltable sliding roof, electrically operated seats with memory function for the driver, Climate Control and, for example, steering wheel controls for radio and Cruise Control. The surround set, original Jaguar/Daimler, is from Alpine. Less obvious are, for example, the electrically adjustable steering wheel in depth and height, of course also with memory function. Even the headrests are electrically adjustable.
What is special is that everything really functions as it should. Seat heating has often burned out over the years, but not in this Daimler. The cup holders in the center tunnel often no longer open, in the V8 your coffee cup is still stable in place. The memory function of the front seats also works as it should.
The key set is completely complete; 2 pieces of black keys with two working remotes (unique) and 1 green ‘Valet’ Key, already mentioned. The complete service folder is included with the car.
The Daimler will be delivered with a full service and brand new MOT and the condition of the car can be called excellent, as was already reported.
There is still a lot to say about this Daimler, but of course you only get a good picture when you look at the car and drive it. you are most welcome in Oirschot, the coffee is ready.
