The Six has a beautiful color; Morocco Red, much sought after by enthusiasts. The interior is made of beautiful leather with a contrasting trim. Of course you will find burr walnut in abundance; even the steering wheel and gear knob are made of wood. Daimler, that means ultimate luxury. The distinction with the most luxurious Jaguar XJ, the Sovereign, can be found in chrome mirror caps, a more luxurious ribbed grille and trunk handle. Finer leather finishes the interior even more. And don’t miss the burr walnut tables in the back, with chrome hinges, beautiful!
The Daimler Six is complete and original. That is immediately noticeable. An original radio, an original steering wheel and the correct Daimler wheel set. No sagging headliner. A fully functioning climate control and a working heater. Nice to see that everything is still in order after 25 years of history!
You are used to us that the Jaguars and Daimlers are neatly offered. In this case it is a little bit different. This Daimler, as its price suggests, is a classic intended for the handy enthusiast. Okay okay, the biggest part of the online offered Daimlers is in the same condition, but as you may know, I prefer to describe the state honestly and correctly. This way you will not be confronted with surprises during a viewing and we can continue to look each other in the face.
The engine is the reliable four-liter six-in-line, which runs large numbers of kilometers without any problems. So you don’t have to worry about that.
The automatic transmission shifts smoothly, the suspension feels solid. The differential is nice and quiet, while a buzzing diff is a problem with the X300.
MOT? Just refreshed and therefore OK for another 12 months. Only note is a disfunctioning light, repaired of course.
What exactly are the flaws, you wonder. First of all, the sunroof won’t open or close. Obvious, of course. The rear left fender shows some rust on the edge, common, but worth noting. The two foot trays and the front part of the two sills were professionally welded last year, so there is no work involved. The suspension and damping feels a bit worn, so there is room for improvement. You can also hear some little rattles and creaks in the stern.
Was this it, then? Yes, this was it! Surely there must be something worth mentioning to substantiate the particularly competitive price, right?
As mentioned, the exterior is in good condition except for some rust. The wheels look great and there are no dents in the sheet metal. The now expensive because original and complete front and rear bumpers of the X300 are in top condition. The chrome work is also undamaged, quite unique. The Six is on four neat tires with good profile.
Naturally, you will find a lot of luxury in the Daimler for its time. For example, it is equipped with an electrically operated and tiltable sliding roof, electrically operated seats and climate control. Less obvious are, for example, the electrically adjustable steering wheel in depth and height. Even the headrests are electrically adjustable. Unique; Press the ‘Valet’ button and the driver of the hotel or restaurant can safely park the car without having access to the luggage room; it will then remain locked.
It is great that all items in the interior are original and complete. In this Daimler you will find a beautiful, well-functioning original radio and a beautiful wooden Daimler steering wheel for example.
