The most desirable Daimler worldwide – Daimler Century 1/100.

Simply untraceable. Simply unique. A Daimler Century actually needs no words, enthusiasts know enough.

1996, 100 years of history. This was celebrated with two special models; the Daimler Century. Supplied in 4.0 straight-six and 6.0 V12. Each model performed in Long Wheel Base. It had to be the most luxurious, most fully equipped Daimler ever, a special model. Only 100 units of both engine types were produced to ensure exclusivity.

Everything about the Daimler Century exudes quality and luxury. The beautiful Turbine rims, fully chromed. Black Century emblems, gold inlaid. Luxurious burr walnut of the highest grade, ‘Century’ inlaid. Almost every interior part is finished with the soft-touch, fine Analine leather. A Harman Kardon sound system with 9 speakers and 240 watts of power.

Never before did you even find a memory function for the fully electrically adjustable seat on the passenger side, in the Century models. Although the luxurious captain chairs in the back actually only made their appearance in 1997 when the new type X308 was introduced, Daimler was the first with the Century; in the rear compartment you will find the electrically adjustable and heated separate seats, with the typical Daimler logo on each headrest. The make-up mirrors, sunk into the headliner and slightly angled towards each seat, complete the look.

When we talk about the classic XJ models X300 and X308 we can say that times have changed. Good examples can be found sporadically, very sporadically. Although the driver often still believes that his or her pride is in good condition, thorough research shows that the chassis and technology have not stood the test of time well, no matter how beautifully the bodywork shines. A potential pig in a poke, a bad buy. Not strange; we are speaking of classics with an age of 20-30 years. Many or kess kilometers, it means nothing. Maintenance and preservation is what counts.

Maintenance and preservation, let that be exactly what this special Century scores on! It has been in the possession of a Belgian Jaguar specialist for years, so no cuts have been made on maintenance. Then bought by me, ready for even more enthusiastic work. A complete bottom renovation was carried out; all critical points have been addressed. The rear subframe has been removed and cleaned, fitted with new rubbers. Shock absorber rubbers all around were replaced. The shock absorbers themselves have been renewed in the recent past. Bad chassis parts were replaced and well protected against the ravages of time. The result is a completely rust-free bottom, unique for this type of classic.

Experience driving this Century and you imagine yourself in 1996, the driving characteristics seem unchanged, the interior looks great, nothing shows the already gained experience of this Century.

Major maintenance was carried out and details in the interior were addressed. The gearbox was serviced, new filter and new oil. The air conditioning system has also been maintained and cools perfectly. Completely ready for the future! Delicious right?

This Century in the beautiful color Kingfisher Blue just has it; An interior and exterior in top condition, a chassis in top condition, everything exudes quality. That says something about the way this Century has been driven and owned in recent years, cherished in this case. Definitely worth the investment, there’s no doubt about that.

The Century was originally delivered new in Belgium. The second Belgian owner, a Jaguar specialist as already mentioned, gave us his beautiful Century after eight years of steering and cherishing it, knowing that we are doing everything we can to bring and keep this special classic in the best possible condition.

The Century features an equally rare color; Kingfisher Blue. The interior is finished in beautiful Silk White analine leather. You will find leather everywhere, even on the door panels. Beautiful but above all very unique. Of course you will find burr walnut in abundance, of course with a hand-inlaid Century logo.

The automatic transmission shifts smoothly, the suspension feels solid. A ‘singing’ differential is a known ailment of the X300 Jaguars and Daimlers. The differential of this Century is of course very quiet, inaudible.

It is clear that this is a special model. A Daimler Six Century had a price of FL247,000 at the time, the Double Six left Coventry for FL260,000. An amount that is nowadays comparable to the price of a new Bentley, to name just one example.

You can imagine how extremely rare a Daimler Century is. A total of 200 copies have been distributed worldwide. How many of these are left? Who will know.

I hear you thinking, that mileage… I understand that at first. Do you realize that we have now arrived in a different era when it comes to the X300 and X308 series? They are true classics. Do you think anyone is wondering what the mileage is on an MK2, or an E-Type? Of course not. The state of maintenance counts. The condition of the interior. The state of the exterior. The originality. Realize that and you buy a piece of limited Jaguar-Daimler history of great value today, for the amount of a normal mid-sized car. Is that still possible with an E-Type, or an MK2? No. And so it will be with this Century.

The Century is delivered with a brand new MOT. The service folder is of course present. Invoices for previously performed maintenance and renovation are available.

There is still a lot to say about this special Daimler Century, but of course you only get a good picture when you look at the car and drive it. You are very welcome in Oirschot, coffee is ready.
