The first generation Audi TT; a style icon for Audi, the classic of the future.
What a wonderful car to look at, the TT Roadster. I’ve had quite a few, a long time ago. Coupé, Roadster, 180 and 225 HP. Back then you could still find a neat example quite easily, now it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack when you’re looking for an original, unmolested example.
This TT has been my uncle’s leisure car since 2012, bought at the time from Prins Esclusivo, a great car company with a good reputation. He drove 50,000 km with it with great pleasure, after 12 years it’s time for the next enthusiast. And that’s how the TT ended up with me!
How nice it is to be able to take over a car that you’ve known for years. You know the history, you know the possible points of attention and even more importantly, you know how the car has been treated.
Although this car comes from an enthusiast, the Audi also goes straight to the technical specialist. The Audi is delivered with a new MOT and a major service, completely ready for the new owner.
When writing this text, I have already driven the first kilometers, all recognition! The great sports seats, the many real aluminum in the interior, the exciting ‘whistle’ from the turbo. It remains enjoyable in an Audi TT MK1.
No pain, no rattle, no problems. Just a TT as an Audi of yesteryear should be; high quality and exceptionally reliable. Because although the various VAG engines of today are not really known for their build quality, this product from the heyday of Audi is. The 1.8T is a proven block that can achieve an exceptionally high efficiency. The dashboard and the materials used in it also radiate quality.
Add to that the wonderfully beautiful condition of this Roadster in particular and you have the perfect fun car. Because the TT still looks great! A steering wheel in top condition, not worn. Both seats in top condition, both in terms of sitting and appearance. Shiny light units, not dull and worn. Counter units and displays all without pixel failure. Perfectly working seat heating for both seats. Dents? None. Damage? Only a single small scratch on the driver’s door betrays the true age of this TT.
The ravages of time have had little effect on the beautiful Audi. Not surprising; since 2012, the Roadster has always been stored indoors, in a heated garage. You can see and feel this in everything; door seals are not hardened or torn, the convertible roof looks like new and the paintwork has not been affected by the weather. And what do you think of those characteristic headlight units? These are also not discoloured or dull by UV light, but beautifully clear and fresh. This is the TT you want!
A few more things about maintenance; the timing belt was replaced in 2021, the invoice for this is present with the car. Of course, the maintenance booklet is neatly filled in and all maintenance services are listed. You can also find the two previous owners in this service booklet. The TT is supplied with no fewer than three keys with remote control and even the original key label is included with the set.
As can be seen in the photo, the TT is equipped with the beautiful glass windshield, electrically operated. The convertible top cover is also included with the car.
Are there any downsides, you may wonder? We briefly discussed it today, but we couldn’t find anything. Everything is working properly, there are currently no issues that require attention. To be able to mention something; a universal radio has been installed with a perfectly working Parrot car kit connected to it. By installing this radio, the aluminium flap that is so typical of the TT cannot be closed. If you want to be able to close it, it is a matter of installing an original radio.
Simply a wonderful TT, which I would be happy to sell to anyone, without any worries.
A few more details; for those who can’t see it in the photo and are still curious; the TT is equipped with original xenon lighting, seat heating, beautiful leather upholstery in top condition, 17 inch rims with fine Avon tyres, and an on-board computer.
Important? Perhaps, but for me the things that this text is mainly about count much more; history, reliability and general condition. Buy a TT in good condition with a complete history and depreciation is now a thing of the past. The maintenance costs of this model are particularly clear and acceptable. What remains is a lot of fun and enjoyment, what more could you want?
There is still a lot to say about this TT Roadster, but of course you only get a good impression when you look at the car and drive it. You are very welcome in Uden, the coffee is ready.
