Only 98,810 km from new, professionaly restored and equipped with fine accessories, the ideal Series 3 for daily use.
The previous owner adores quality, that is clear. Some time ago he bought a beautiful Daimler Century from us and traded in his XJ Series 3. A special Series 3, as it turned out. Because although the first series of the XJ is my favorite, I was immediately enthusiastic after driving the partially restored 4.2 Saloon Automatic! What a wonderful driver’s classic; The carefully selected accessories certainly contribute to this, more about that later, first some history.
History, that is what this Series 3 has. First registered in 1981, originally delivered in The Netherlands. When it reached the age of 25, this Jaguar was thoroughly overhauled; a very expertly executed restoration was the result. Fortunately with an eye for originality; The original leather interior has been retained and is still in exceptionally good condition today. Not surprising, since the mileage at the time was only 51,000. Why a restoration, you ask? That can be explained logically; At the time, a Dutch car became road tax exempt upon reaching the age of 25. This, together with the more favorable addition given the youngtimer scheme, made restoring a wonderful driver’s car pleasant.
Back to today’s facts. After years, the Jaguar was passed on to a new owner who lovingly maintained his Jaguar. No expense was spared, as evidenced by the many invoices from Jaguar specialists in the accompanying folder. Some highlights are the wonderful, original Jaguar Classic sound system with navigation, Bluetooth and DAB+ as well as the new air conditioning compressor of a more modern type, so wonderfully cooling. The folder is full of these kinds of delights that increase pleasure or convenience, such as a perfectly functioning cruise control. Of course, a body-saving intervention such as a Dinitrol treatment was not skipped, which is why the Jaguar has been well preserved.
The Series 3 XJ has even more special features. Just take a look at the fully stainless steel exhaust. Well, I could go on and on, but let’s go to the condition of the XJ, which is just as important.
As mentioned, the previous owner and certainly his predecessor love quality. We have continued this quality with our finishing touches and the XJ is now in optimal condition. I also like quality; When the front tires turned out to be worn, I therefore opted for Vredestein Sprint Classic and the maintenance was of course again carried out by specialists only. As mentioned, the classic has been completely restored in recent years. Just take a look at the images. Maintain that image and come up with a technical condition of the same high level.
So done, done. The new owner will enjoy it to the fullest. Enjoy the smooth-shifting gearbox. Enjoy the wonderfully comfortable, soft leather chairs. Enjoy the beautiful paintwork and the sleek carriage. And enjoy the wonderful 4.2 inline-six. It is not without reason that this XJ did not end up in the company stock, but registered to drive myself.
Of course, this over 40 year old classic also has its flaws, that’s logical. In this case it remains limited; No rust on the bottom, the most critical issue. The bottom has been perfectly preserved, is hard and looks very neat. The same goes for the engine compartment, clean and free of rust. There are some blisters visible only on the front and rear windows as well as on the bottom of the rear right wing, which is not surprising considering the age. Of course, photos of these subjects are available.
You want this pure history on wheels. There is no reason not to store this classic in your garage, and to drive it. Can you think of a reason? That’s absolutely fine, then I’ll keep the Chestnut Series 3 XJ for myself, right?
Additional charge on current value, road tax in the Netherlands: €0.
There is still a lot to say about this Jaguar, but you will of course only get a good impression when you view and drive the car. you are very welcome in Oirschot, the coffee is ready.
