This Jaguar is unique in every respect. In 2018 I bought this Glacier White X300, which was in good condition at the time. Although there were some visual points that could use some attention, the special color combination immediately won me over. Not long after, the new owner came forward; Wim. Wim was looking for a Jaguar for daily use, a youngtimer. Logically, the Dutch tax-related Youngtimer scheme still offers many advantages. In broad terms it comes down to this; for private use you do not add 25% of the net catalog value of €78,901 to your gross income, but 35% of the current value, a considerable difference. Wim had big plans, which were also perfectly executed; having a top quality gas installation installed and keeping this special XJ in good technical condition. And so it happened that Wim drove no less than 50,000 satisfied kilometers with his Jaguar in just over 4 years! New rear shock absorbers, fresh subframe rubbers, original new radiator, air conditioning compressor…no expense was spared!
Well, time passes, it is now 5 years later and while delivering my Daimler to the technical specialist I meet Wim again, with his XJ. Busy, because of some minor damage to the rear bumper. To keep the story relatively short; Wim sees and drives the Daimler, I already know his Jaguar and we come to a deal together!
All’s well that ends well, right? Then we immediately come to the negatives of this XJ, Wim of course decided not to trade it in without reason. The XJ actually only has 1 downside, insurmountable for some and a godsend for others; somewhat rusty panels. I say panels, because despite the visible rust spots on the outside, the chassis and chassis are actually very good, quite unique. No holes in the bottom, no rusty inner sills, no leaky footwells. Again, that is unique. Photos are of course available.
Considering the maintenance, the Jaguar drives great, no strange noises or vibrations. No singing differential. Perfectly cooling air conditioning. A well-running engine; After all, the AJ16 in-line 6 from Jaguar is virtually indestructible, even with a gas system installed. The MOT has recently been renewed, except for some sweating on the engine block, the report does not mention any points of interest.
almost everything in the interior functions as it should. Cruise control, the electrically operated seats but also the associated memory function, for example. A beautiful classic-looking DAB+ radio with Bluetooth, beautiful to look at but also easy to use. The digital clock is currently not working. Headlining is neat, not sagging.
The color is unique, the interior is unique. The top quality LPG gas installation is nice, just take a look at the LPG price and compare it with Euro98. The installation was installed by leading LPG installation company Agin, total costs more than €2.500,-.
So what do you get for the friendly price I want to receive for the Jaguar? Easy; an honest, reliable, unique and high-quality Jaguar. A clear past, fully documented. Ready for many miles or cherishing, whichever you prefer.
What don’t you get for this price? you don’t get spotless wheel arch edges, you don’t get perfect looking paintwork. But the most important thing is; you don’t get a ‘cat in a poke’ but a reliable, well-driving classic Jaguar, as it should be.
