The Range Rover P38 captures everyone’s imagination, as every Range Rover does.
Range Rover, an iconic design. Immediately upon its introduction in 1969, the luxurious and extremely comfortable off-road vehicle was a great success. The model was delivered for no less than 27 years. From 1994, the first model was renamed Range Rover Classic, as its successor was introduced; the P38A. Named after the project name Pegasus, built in Block 38A, Solihull.
The P38 was produced up to and including 2002. Relatively short, making it a relatively rare model. Good examples are now becoming scarce. Reliable classics, great travel cars. Reviled by those who are either unfamiliar with it or acquainted only with the poorly maintained examples, often driven by greed. How do we know that? That’s right, our other hobby; Jaguar.
All right, let’s go to this instance; the delightful 4.6 HSE. It has been in my possession for two years now and therefore maintained under my management. A wonderful and especially original Range Rover in the ultimate version for me; Epsom Green exterior, Charcoal leather interior and 18 inch Mondials, the beautiful classic rims, original Range Rover and completely new powder coated. A real enthusiast’s car, as evidenced by the many documents and brochures present.
After the second owner, a real enthusiast, drove the Range Rover for a few years, we took it over. Everything was immediately done to bring the P38 to a high level; Headlining was renovated with beautiful gray Alcantara, the sliding roof was repaired and major maintenance was of course carried out. Very large maintenance, everything has been thought of.
That of course means that only specialists have worked on the Range Rover. What then had to be done, you ask? Make no mistake, these classics have now reached the age of 25. Take a look at the average offer. In the photos alone, I usually see thousands of euros in overdue maintenance. Mind you, you’re only talking about the photos. Buy such an average Range Rover or Jaguar, for example, and you are guaranteed a lot of headaches.
Precisely to prevent headaches, both for myself and for the new owner, my goal is to address all points of attention. With this Range Rover we are talking about renewal of all blend engines in the heater, repair of the air conditioning system, repair of cruise control, update of the air suspension system, renewal of radiator, major maintenance, freshly powder-coated rims, new brand tires, even all bonnets – and boot lid emblems are new, original Land Rover. Completely replaced rear brake lines, rear brake discs and pads have been renewed… So far the spearheads. The list does not end until all things work and are as they should be. This beautiful P38 is the result. Everything for a reliable classic, not for nothing that I also like to see them again.
