The XJS, perhaps the ‘new E-Type’? Anyway, a good copy has now become rare.
Love it or hate it, that’s how it works with the XJS. Fortunately, because they are becoming rare so a large audience only drives up the price, right? They are scarce, especially in this condition! An exterior in top condition, neat and complete. Beautiful chrome headlight units, beautifully renovated rims and a very neat (because almost new) blue fabric roof. But much more important; an apparently ‘hard’ bulkhead, hard sheet metal and hard bottom plate. Is that still possible? Yes, you can, as long as the owner treats the XJS with love.
We clearly owe the condition of this XJS to its previous owners. California, where this beautiful Convertible has been driving around for years. Brought to the Netherlands by an enthusiast and now available for the next enthusiast.
Well, so far the history of the Jaguar. Such an XJS is so beautiful! The interior just exudes 80s, 90s, beautiful. 80s and 90s in a very luxurious uniform because wood and leather everywhere. The radio, original Jaguar, is also ‘period correct’. The beautiful and comfortable seats are electrically adjustable, as are the mirrors.
The seats are in neat condition. The leather is not dried out or cracked. It is clear that this XJS is often stored indoors. You can tell by the condition of wood and leather.
The convertible roof looks spick and span. The canvas is in very good condition and shows no wear. The original Jaguar rims have been completely renovated and look like new. The tires are still in good condition and of the Michelin brand.
Trunk? Neatly clean, the bottom not rusted. Sills? Clean, no visible rust. Bumpers? All in order, including the chrome. Truly a car from and for an enthusiast, you can see that in everything.
It is also striking that everything works as it should; cruise control, sound system, heater and even the air conditioning. All in order. Not surprising, given the maintenance history of this Jaguar at Jagpoint in De Bilt; technical specialists in the field of Jaguar and Daimler in the center of the country.
What makes this XJS extra attractive in my opinion is the special, summery color; Ice Blue Metallic, gorgeous!
The mileage is only 78,318 km. Kilometers, because even the gauge unit has been completely converted to European format and now counts in kilometers. The mileage on import into the Netherlands in 2014 was only 27,000 miles, around 44,000 km. The license plates are of the different format. If necessary, these are easy to exchange for the common EU format, it is easy to make room for this on the tailgate. Incidentally, the original bonnet emblem is also present, which can be exchanged with the mounted ‘leaper’ if necessary.
Then the technique. The engine block runs nice and quiet. the chassis is silent, no rattles and creaks that indicate play. This XJS is absolutely worth the investment!
And what a wonderful engine that typical Jaguar six-in-line is! It is a particularly reliable block, known from the Jaguar X300. Only the last XJS six-cylinder had this last, wonderfully running four-liter power source. This engine variant is linked as standard to the fine and also ‘bulletproof’ four-speed automatic transmission.
There is still a lot to say about this Jaguar, but of course you only get a good picture when you look at the car and drive it. you are very welcome in Oirschot, the coffee is ready.
