The Range Rover P38 captures everyone’s imagination, as every Range Rover does.
Range Rover, an iconic design. Immediately upon its introduction in 1969, the luxurious and extremely comfortable all-terrain vehicle was a great success. This model was delivered for no less than 27 years. From 1994, the first model was renamed Range Rover Classic. After all, its successor was introduced; the P38A. Named after the project name Pegasus, built in Block 38A, Solihull.
Up to and including 2002 the P38 was produced. Relatively short, which makes it a relatively rare model. Good copies are now becoming scarce. Reliable classics, great traveling machines. Reviled by those who are either unfamiliar with it or known only by the poorly maintained ones, often driven by stinginess. What do we know that from? That’s right, our other hobby; Jaguar.
All right, let’s go to this example; the Epsom Green DSE, in HSE Pack. I have owned it for four years now and therefore maintained it under my management. A wonderful and especially original Range Rover in the ultimate version for me; Epsom Green exterior, Lightstone leather and an interior full of Burr walnut. A real enthusiast’s car, as evidenced by the many documents and brochures present. Even the option list from the time is present, complete with check marks set by the first owner! The first owner ordered the Range Rover on a Belgian license plate, which was fiscally very advantageous. 110,000 kilometers were driven under the Belgian flag, after which the Range Rover came to the Netherlands. This of course accompanied by Belgian Carpass to guarantee the mileage.
After the second owner, a real enthusiast, brought the Range Rover to 155,000 km, we took it over. Immediately everything was done to bring the already beautiful and good Range Rover to an even higher level; Headlining was renewed, the sliding roof was repaired and, of course, major maintenance was carried out.
Some years of glorious but sporadic driving passed, after which the Range Rover got its current destination; The Balearic Islands.
Of course you drive this kind of enthusiast cars to the islands yourself. After some extensive checks, again major maintenance and, among other things, new air suspension bags all around, the Range Rover is ready for the journey of 2,300 km.
In short, our efforts in recent years have paid off again, the Range Rover did not flinch. Only the belt for the air conditioning turned out to be a bit difficult to get used to the new, more humid climate. Squeaking was the result, re-tensioning was the solution.
Quality and maintenance, that’s what it’s all about. I could go on for a long time about this Range Rover, but there is no space for that in an ad text. View the photos and be surprised about the condition and the complete version of this P38.
To keep it short and yet complete, I mention all the negatives here, as far as they exist. Hardly visible in the photos, but the woodwork shows some cracks in some places. especially the steering wheel suffers from this. After being parked for a while, the torque converter wants to work a bit slowly, but then does what it is there for, converting torque. That’s it.
I am currently waiting for the Spanish documents. The Dutch export registration number is therefore still visible in the photo. After receiving the documents, the Range Rover will be driven by myself and will be always stored indoors.
There is still a lot to say about this Range Rover, but of course you only get a good picture when you look at the car and drive it. you are most welcome in Ibiza, the coffee is ready.
